PETALUMA, Calif. -- The World’s Ugliest Dog competition was held in California recently, and the entrants included some interesting looking animals, including ‘Quasimodo,' who is half dog and half hyena--according to the dog's owner.

Peanut, a shelter rescue from North Carolina who was a victim of abuse and was burned in a fire, was the winner. Peanut’s owner said the dog can’t close its eyes as a result of injuries he suffered in the fire and no longer has lips.

Peanut’s owner said “He's my baby.... I guess I just don’t see him every day as being that ugly, but I guess the judges thought so.”
