SALT LAKE CITY – Team Utah returned home Saturday after competing in the Special Olympics 2014 USA Games.

The 59-person delegation included athletes, partners, coaches and staff who spent a week competing at the games in New Jersey.

Athlete Samantha Clark competed in golf and said it was a good experience.

“Just hanging out with my team, and just competing and meeting new friends,” she said.

Judy Hut does outreach and volunteer work for the games, and she said Utahns worked hard at the event.

“It was just such a great experience for our unity and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities and their unified partners,” she said. “You know, we did get a lot of medals. There were about 34, but lots of ribbons and most of all they just had a wonderful time being together and competing with other states.”

The games hosted more than 3,500 athletes from all over the country, visit their website for more information.
