Update: Son shot mother then himself in Sanpete County murder-suicide

UPDATE: The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office has just confirmed 27-year-old Kyle Poulson shot his mother, Marilee Poulson, and then turned the gun on himself in Sanpete County.

Officials said the medical examiner is investigating.

Deputies have not said what may have led to the shooting.

FAIRVIEW, Sanpete County — The sheriff confirmed a murder-suicide in this small, central Utah town.

Sheriff Brian Nielsen declined to release many details about the crime. FOX 13 was told the victims were reported to be a mother and son.

The sheriff released the following statement:

Tragically today we received a report of a possible shooting in Fairview Heights. Deputies and Officers responded to find a male in his mid-twenties and his mother both deceased from gun shot wounds in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
