UINTAH COUNTY, Utah –One person is dead and another person is in critical condition after a crash involving three motorcycles and several cars Thursday night on U.S. Route 40 in Uintah County.

Trooper Nick Richins of the Utah Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 6 p.m. east of the town of Naples as three motorcyclists were riding east.

Richins said several vehicles had stopped to wait for traffic while a vehicle went to turn left, and the motorcycles weren’t able to stop before crashing into the back of one of the vehicles that had stopped.

Officials said 55-year-old David Glenn of Texas was killed in the crash. The man is a sheriff’s deputy in Texas. Rudy Buhler, also of Texas, was taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center. Richins said Buhler had broken bones but his injuries were not life threatening. Both men were riding motorcycles. There were no other major injuries reported.

Richins said the accident remains under investigation, but he said at this time he believes it is unlikely any citations will issued in connection with the crash.
