Search and rescue crews assisting hikers near Mt. Olympus

SALT LAKE CITY – Search and rescue crews responded to assist two hikers who became cliffed out after leaving the Mt. Olympus Trail Saturday.

Officials said the two hikers are not injured and have adequate food and water.

Crews located the hikers with a helicopter, and crews with climbing gear were dispatched to assist around 3 p.m. As of about 9:00 p.m., crews were helping the two hikers down the mountain.

    Pretty easy route to follow, yet I remember almost getting myself into that same situation once, when hiking solo.

    And after the fact you always think, “What was I thinking?”
