Southern Utah – Two Snow Canyon High School students died in unrelated accidents over the weekend.

Brooks Johnson, 18, of Santa Clara, was killed in a rollover accident on the Arizona Strip Saturday night, according to Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Austin Mcelyea, 17, also of Santa Clara, was killed Sunday night when an ATV rider crashed into the back of his dirt bike in Veyo, causing the teen to wreck, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

Family and friends gathered at Snow Canyon High Monday night to hold a vigil for Mcelyea. Friends and classmates shared memories of the teen on the front lawn of the school.

The ATV driver in Mcelyea's accident was identified as Makay Stephens, 27, of Brookside. He was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into Washington County Jail.

Three other individuals were injured in the rollover on the Arizona Strip and were transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center.
