SANDY, Utah -- A Canyons School District bus driver is under investigation over allegations that he inappropriately touched several students, police said Monday.

According to Sandy Police, the bus driver bused students from Altara Elementary School.

Jennifer Toomer-Cook, spokeswoman for the district, said it was in April that the district first heard of the allegations.

“We did receive the allegations after school had let out, the next day we began our investigation, that’s the same day this person was put on leave so we moved swiftly – we contacted police immediately and have been working with them on their investigation,” Toomer-Cook said.

Police are not releasing the bus driver’s name at this time but he has since been let go from his position with the school.

The district turned over three months’ worth of video related to the accusations to Sandy detectives. The footage has also been handed over to the district attorney so charges can be filed.
