As the video from CNN above shows, a rare megamouth shark was recently caught, and a museum in Japan is putting the 13-foot long, 1,500 pound creature on display.

The shark, reportedly caught off of the coast of Japan, is only the 58th specimen of the shark to be seen by humans in history.

The Japan Daily Press reports that the sharks can grow to be as big as 17-feet long and that the creatures are named for their head, which is not proportionate to their body.

The Marine Science Museum in Shizuoka, Japan dissected the shark for study and the remains can be viewed at the museum. Click here for more details from the Japan Daily Press.
