Man critically injured in shooting, 4 suspects who fled from police sought

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police are seeking four suspects after a man was shot in the stomach early Saturday morning in West Valley City.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males, and they were believed to be in a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo or Impala with black rims and a fin on the back.

The 21-year-old male victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but officials do not believe the injury is life threatening.

According to a press release from the West Valley City Police Department, the incident occurred near Granger High School, 3580 S. 3600 West, around 12:27 a.m.

An officer patrolling the area saw the vehicle described above pull up alongside four pedestrians, and the occupants of the car began a conversation with the pedestrians. As the officer passed the group he heard the sound of gunfire, and when he turned around the suspect vehicle fled, heading south.

The officer pursued the vehicle, but he lost sight of it in the area near 3800 South and 3600 West.

The release stated police do not have any suspects as of yet, and the release did not provide any information regarding a potential motive for the shooting.
