For my first week back in Utah and back at work I noticed that had to reacclimatize myself to the elevation after being at sea level for a week. In the past I thought it was just because I was overweight, but I guess there were other reasons as well.
I had my monthly check up with Dr. Royall about my foot and overall healing process, and he told me that walking around at Disneyland probably wasn’t the best thing for the healing. The trip was fun, though. As you can see in the picture above, I attempted the Splash Mountain selfie, but unfortunately my phone froze on me. I also stopped in Vegas and caught a Michael Jackson tribute show at The Rio.
So, the bad news is I have one more month to let my ankle/foot heal properly, which means no working out other than moderate walking. Not brisk walking, not speed walking: just regular, go-to-the-liquor-store walking.
While on vacation I had a thought: I had said in the beginning of my weight loss journey that I wanted to train for a 5K or half marathon, but I realized that those were knee-jerk responses because that’s what most people do when they lose a lot of weight. That’s not me, nor has it ever been. I am going to train to compete as an arm wrestler with my boy Fin Maka and the Utah Pullers; Utah’s arm wrestling team. I am excited and eager for this opportunity, and I can’t wait to start.
This week’s highlight was goofing around with Paige Davis. Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement. Big shout out to Doctors Cottam & Richards, BMI Utah, Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, my family and my friends.
