BOX ELDER COUNTY — A Weber County man is dead after an ultralight accident in Box Elder County, officials said Tuesday evening.
State Park officials identified the man Wednesday as Allen Speer of West Haven.
The incident was previously reported as a paragliding accident.
The 60-year-old man went down in Willard Bay State Park at approximately 5:45 p.m. A passerby saw the victim land hard on the road near the Willow and Cottonwood campgrounds within the park, according to park officials.
Speer was transported to the Box Elder Hospital, where he later died.
The National Transportation Safety Board, Utah State Park rangers and Box Elder County are conducting an investigation into the accident. Wednesday’s press release did not provide additional details regarding the crash.
