SOUTH JORDAN, Utah -- The South Jordan Police Department is offering a free Citizen Police Academy for people who either live or work in South Jordan.

Officer Samuel Winkler came to the FOX 13 News studio Friday to discuss the details, and he gave Nineveh Dinha the chance to try on some police gear. See the video above for his comments.

The academy features training on a variety of topics, ranging from arrest control and defensive tactics to crime scene investigations and physical training.

According to the department's website, class size is limited to 25 and: "There is no fee to attend the Citizen Police Academy; however, the minimum age for enrollment is 18 years of age. Applicants must not have a criminal record, must complete the application and pass a basic background investigation and must either work or live in South Jordan."
