SALT LAKE CITY -- An RV is completely destroyed after it caught fire Thursday night in downtown Salt Lake.

Fire crews were called to a large RV fire around 8 p.m. in the area of 300 South Rio Grande. When they arrived on scene, they found the RV completely engulfed in flames.

Witnesses said there were several explosions before firefighters arrived, and a couple more when crews were fighting the flames.

Fire crews were able to get the blaze under control,  but they said they had to keep their distance because there were propane tanks inside the vehicle.

"As we got here and started to fight the fire we did find multiple propane tanks inside the vehicle, which is a little out of the ordinary," Nate Rock with Salt Lake City Fire said. "[We were] just worried about those going off."

No one was injured in the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
