Big Budah’s blog: My post-surgery MacGyver moment

Posted

I was looking forward to getting my stitches out Thursday, but I got a call from Dr. Royall’s office saying we have to move it to Friday. I admit sponge baths are not as exciting as the movies make them out to be…it is you with one foot in the tub and one foot out, a bucket full of soapy water, and an oversize sponge.

Anyway, I am going a little stir crazy—especially with no showers. So I took measures of my own so I could take a shower. I can’t get my wounds wet, so I tried Poly-rig my foot…ha ha.

It didn’t help, and the lesson I learned is: Listen to the doctor.

My highlight this week was going to Southland and getting pie in the face. I hope to be rid of stitches by Friday and the medical footwear to boot.

I am looking forward to getting back to working out and being more mobile on my feet. The pain is still lingering around a 5 or 6 on a scale of 1 to 10, but all in all I am feeling good and am anxious to resume a normal active life.

Thank you to all of you for your support and encouragement, it makes setbacks like this surgery less frustrating. As always, I am grateful to Doctors Cottom and Richards, BMI Utah and all of the fine folks at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center for changing my life for the better.
