SALT LAKE CITY -- A lawyer who represented the Salt Lake City Police Department made an initial appearance in court Thursday morning.

James Wesley Robinson and his sons, Alexander and Zachary, are accused of running a drug lab out of their home, and also possession of drugs with the intent to distribute.

Prosecutors allege that Robinson and his sons ran a lab out of their home that boiled leafy marijuana down into pure THC oil, which was allegedly quite profitable.

Police said they seized $26,000 in cash from the home while serving a search warrant there in February. The Robinson men were all arrested and booked into jail.

The three men are currently out on bail, and Thursday was their initial court appearance. The Robinson defense team includes two of the highest profile lawyers in Utah-- Ed Brass and Ron Yengich.

The three men are due back in court on March 28 for a scheduling conference. Meanwhile, James Robinson is on leave from his position as a civil attorney for the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Besides the drug charges, James Robinson also faces gun charges, possession of cocaine and having the alleged illegal activity happening less than 1,000 feet away from a nearby middle school.
