MOAB, Utah – Police have been investigating ever since a fossilized dinosaur track was stolen near Hell’s Revenge Trail in the Sand Flats Recreation Area near Moab, and police now have a suspect in the case.

Officials said Saturday they have a suspect in the theft, which occurred on or about February 17, but have not released the suspect’s identity.

According to a press release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, a dive team with the Utah Department of Public Safety was assisting Grand County Search and Rescue and Grand County Sheriff’s Office personnel in searching the Colorado River for the fossil, which officials believe was dumped along SR-128 near the Dewey Bridge.
