HOLLADAY, Utah – The City of Holladay joined a growing list of Utah communities that have passed non-discrimination ordinances .

The Holladay City Council voted 5-to-1 to create an ordinance banning discrimination in housing and employment against the LGBT community.

The move comes shortly after the Utah legislature decided not to hear a similar bill that would have created a state-wide non-discrimination ordinance. Utah lawmakers decided not to hear any bills relating to LGBT rights, as some expressed concern that doing so could impact Utah’s appeal of the ruling that struck down the state’s same-sex marriage ban.
