Freight train derailment delays commuters

WEST JORDAN, Utah — A freight train derailment is causing delays for commuters using TRAX Wednesday morning.

According to UTA, commuters should expect 10 to 20 minute delays throughout the morning due to the Savage freight train derailment at 4000 West and 9000 South.

A bus bridge has been set up starting at 5600 West going to Jordan Valley.

Officials said two Savage trains derailed around 3:30 a.m. They said the 15 railroad cars connected to the locomotives were not impacted and remained upright on the track.

There were no injuries reported, and no product was released from the railroad cars.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
