Report: Ralph Waite of ‘The Waltons’ fame dies at age of 85

PALM DESERT, Calif. – Ralph Waite, who is known for his role as John Walton Sr. on the ’70s TV show “The Waltons” has reportedly died at the age of 85.

The Desert Sun, based in Palm Desert, reports that Waite died at his Palm Desert home Thursday morning.

A friend of Waite’s, Jerry Preece, reportedly told The Desert Sun that when he arrived to meet Waite at about 1 p.m. there were ambulances at Waite’s home.

Preece told The Desert Sun his friend died of a “tired heart.”

    I GREW UP IN AN OLD FARM HOUSE MUCH LIKE THERES. WE HAD 7 BROTHERS AND SISTERS.WE ALWAYS HAD SOME MORE FAMILY MEMBERS STAYING FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER, I MARRIED AND HAD 3 BOYS.WE NEVER MISSED THE SHOW I THINK IT WAS THE ONLY TIME MY HOUSE WAS QUIET.WE USE TO JOKE AND COPY THERE GODNIGHT TO EACH ONE.THEY WERE A GREAT EXAMPLE OF LOVE AND RESPECT,I COPIED THE WAY I RAISED MY CHILDREN AFTER THEM I STILL WATCH THE SHOW RERUNS EVERYDAY. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BUT ALWAYS LOVED MY PRAYERS GO TO BOTH OF HIS FAMILES. GOOD NIGHT PA

      Goodnight Ralph Waite RIP. The Waltons is the best family show ever to be put on TV. The Waltons is my favoriet TV show I do not watch much TV becasue it is so discusting. The last performance we have from dear Ralph Waite is Old Henry from last year you should watch it. I agree we do need more shows like the Waltons.
