SOUTHERN UTAH — A man was killed in an accident at a mine in Iron County Saturday, officials said Sunday.

Sgt. Triplett of the Iron County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to FOX 13 News Sunday that there had been an accidental death at the Comstock/Mountain Lion Mine. The mine is located west of Cedar City, and it is being actively mined by CML Metals.

Officers said Cedar City resident Mark Rowley, 56, was working alone in the mine Saturday when he was caught in a conveyor belt. Crews performed CPR on Rowley, but he later died at the scene.

FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
