SALT LAKE CITY – Two companies teamed up Sunday to give those in need a warm meal while they watched the year’s biggest sporting event.

Papa Murphy’s Pizza and RC Willey hosted a Super Bowl Sunday celebration for those who visit the Saint Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, and staff served free, hot pizza while the game played on a TV provided by RC Willey.

Dennis Kelch is the director of basic needs services at the soup kitchen, and he said it was a great gesture by the two companies.

“They’ve done this to give people who don’t normally have that opportunity to see the game on a nice wide screen television set and nice warm surroundings with pizza,” Kelch said. “It’s just a great thing and the clients appreciate it very much.”

Officials with Papa Murphy’s Pizza said about 800 people attended and ate more than 100 pizzas between them.
