Winter weather advisories, storm warnings in effect

SALT LAKE CITY — The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings for parts of the Utah, Idaho and Wyoming.

Winter Weather Advisories
Winter weather advisories were issued for parts of Emery, Grand, Morgan, Summit, Uintah, Wasatch and Weber counties.

The advisories also affect Bear Lake and Oneida counties in Idaho and Lincoln and Sublette counties in Wyoming.

The areas of Malad, Oakley, City of Rocks, Connor Summit, Sweetzer Summit are expected to have 1-3 inches of snow at lower valley floors and 3-6 inches of snow at elevations above 6,000 feet. The advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The areas of Huntsville, Park City and Heber City can expect 2-6 inches of snow. The advisory is in effect through Thursday afternoon,

The areas of Vernal, Jenesen, Ballard, Fort Duchesne and Randlett are expected to have 3-6 inches of snow. The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Green River Basin foothills area, including La Barge, Big Piney and Farson are expected to have 2-4 inches of snow, with up to 6 inches in Daniel and 9 inches in Merna. The advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Caribou Highlands area, including Lava Hot Springs, Soda Springs, McCammon, Fish Creek Summit, Swan Valley, Grays Lake, Montpelier, Georgetown, Paris and Georgetown Summit are expected to receive between 1 and 7 inches of snow at elevations below 7,000 feet and 4 and 12 inches of snow at elevations above 7,000 feet. The advisory is in effect until midnight.

Winter Storm Warnings
Winter storm warnings were issued for parts of Box Elder, Cache, Carbon, Daggett, Davis, Duchesne, Emery, Grand, Juab, Millard, Morgan, Rich, Salt Lake, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Summit, Uintah, Utah, Wasatch and Weber counties. The warnings also affect Lincoln and Sublette counties in Wyoming.

For the Western Uinta Mountains, Wasatch Plateau, Book Cliffs area, including the cities of Woodruff, Randolph, Alta, Brighton, Scofield and the Mirror Lake Highway, the winter storm warning is in effect until 5 a.m.

12-24 inches of snow for the Wasatch Range south of I-80,
10-20 inches for the northern Wasatch Range
8-16 inches in the western Uinta mountains and the Wasatch Plateau

The areas of Manila and Dutch John are expected to have 8-16 inches of snow. The winter storm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.

The areas of Cove Fort, Koosharem and Fish Lake are expected to receive 8-16 inches of snow . The warning is in effect from 11 p.m. Wednesday utni 5 a.m. Friday.

The Monticello area is expected to receive 2-5 inches of snow and 8-16 inches of snow at elevations of 8,000 feet. The warning is in effect until midnight.

The Teton Mountains / Jackson Hole area is expected to receive 6-12 inches of snow in the Jackson Valley  and 1-2 feet in the Teton and Gros Ventre ranges. The warning is in effect 5 a.m. Friday.

The areas of Afton, Alpine and Thayne, WY are expected to receive 8-16 inches of snow in the Star Valley and 1-2 feet in the Salt and Wyoming ranges. The waring is in effect through 5 a.m. Friday.

The south Lincoln county area, including Kemmerer and Cokeville, are expected to receive 4-8 inches of snow, with the heaviest accumulations in the Sage and Cokeville areas. The warning is in effect until 5 a.m. Friday.

The Wind River Mountain area has already received several inches of snow and more accumulations, 7-14 inches, are expected on the northern part of the range. The warning is in effect until 5 a.m. Friday.
