SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Police Department is providing work opportunities by partnering with a local group dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities.

Chief Chris Burbank announced Wednesday the partnership with Columbus Community Center had placed two individuals within the department.

Greg Smith was one of the first people to be placed in the program, and he said he is thankful for the opportunity.

“Haven’t started yet, but from what I saw Friday, I’ll like it,” he said.

Columbus Community Center, 3495 S. West Temple, began in 1968, and their goal is to provide services that help individuals with disabilities overcome the additional obstacles they face.
