COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah --A work session was held Tuesday for city officials to discuss agendas for Cottonwood Heights.

The fifth topic on the list was public safety reports and how they are handled. That topic stems from an incident that happened in November where Salt Lake County dispatch wasted valuable minutes in a medical emergency response.

City officials said the root of the problem is not communicating properly. One of the solutions discussed is to combine Sandy and Salt Lake City's operation platforms.

"What we would like to see is everybody on one platform," Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore. "So it really doesn't matter who takes the 911 call, they can record the data and give it to the proper dispatcher who will make sure that the assets that are closest get dispatched to the call."

Cullimore also said the county is stepping forward to help fund the project, and he feels confident that there is a county-wide solution to the problem.
