SOUTH JORDAN -- The Bingham High School football team was recognized Tuesday as one of the top high school football teams in the country.

The team finished No. 19 nationally for the 2013 season, according to a press release from MaxPreps, a California-based company that ranks more than 16,000 high school varsity football teams.

Bingham completed a perfect 14-0 season when the Miners mauled Brighton of Salt Lake City, 38-13, on Nov. 22, 2013 to claim its eighth Utah 5A state championship.

Bingham, which beat Brighton earlier in the season (38-27 on Oct. 4), is one of 50 schools being honored on the ninth annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, the release stated.

This is the third time the Miners are part of the Tour of Champions. Their previous selections were for the 2010 season when they finished 27th in the nation and in 2009 when they ended up No. 45.
