PROVO, Utah —  A Provo company is producing power using manure from farm animals, and they said the source is just as good as any other method of generating power.

Alpental Energy Partners have opened a technology project at Circle Four Farms in Beaver County where they are using the gas from pig manure to generate electricity for Utah homes.

Brady Olsen is the vice president of Alpental Energy Partners, and he touted the advantages of their unusual energy source.

“This is different because it doesn’t depend on mother nature,” he said. “We can produce electricity 24 hours a day, seven days a week, regardless of ambient conditions, so it’s a good consistent source of electricity.”

Company officials said the farm produces enough energy to power about 3,000 homes. For more information, visit the company’s website.
