Three wins, two loses for Utah men’s hoops teams

PROVO, UT– The BYU men lost their West Coast Conference opener on the road at Loyola Marymount, Saturday night they got revenge.

Tyler Haws led all scores with 31 points (24 in the second half) as the Cougars beat the Lions 68-91.

Kyle Collinsworth added 20 points for BYU, and Matt Carlino scored 18 off the bench in the Cougars’ 23 point win. BYU improves to 3-2 in WCC play.

In Orem, the Utah Valley men made history, hosting their first ever Western Athletic Conference home game. Ben Aird scored the first 9 points for the Wolverines as they defeated Grand Canyon 65-58, giving UVU a 2-0 start in the WAC.

Weber State improved to 3-1 in the Big Sky with a 72-60 win at North Dakota on Saturday, but Southern Utah is still searching for their first Big Sky win of the season after a 28-point loss at home against Sacramento State.

The Utah State men had a chance to hand the Wolf Pack their first Mountain West Conference loss of the season, but the Aggies fell short in Reno, losing 62-54.
