At least seven people unintentionally triggered avalanches in backcountry areas Friday – dangerous avalanche conditions continue through the weekend, officials said Saturday morning.

There is high avalanche danger on slopes steeper than about 30 degrees on upper elevation slopes that generally face the north half of the compass along with eastern facing slopes, according a press release from the Utah Avalanche Center.

Backcountry travelers should check avalanche conditions carry avalanche gear, such as an avalanche rescue beacon, shovel and probe.
