SALT LAKE CITY -- Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and on Friday night Utahns gathered to hold a vigil honoring the victims of the tragedy.

The event was organized by a non-profit group called Gun Sense, which seeks to remember the victims, most of whom were first grade students, by preventing future tragedies.

Sven Haynes of Gun Sense said the event is about awareness.

"We wanted to remind people, these were real lives, these were real children," Haynes said. "Enough is enough. And I think the time has come to regulate the gun industry itself, just like we did with tobacco, just like we do with other industries as a matter of course when we see they pose a public hazard."

FOX 13 News' Caroline Connolly was at the vigil, see the video above for her complete report.
