DRAPER, Utah — A Christmas tree created for the Festival of Trees in honor of fallen Draper Police Sgt. Derek Johnson is now on display at Draper City Hall.

The tree was decorated by the family of Johnson, who was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 1.

According to Draper Police, the tree was purchased by an anonymous person at the Festival of Trees, who then donated the tree back to the Johnson family. The Johnson family then donated the tree to the Draper City Police Department.

“We are honored to display the Sergeant Derek Johnson memorial tree in the lobby of our City Hall,” Draper Police Chief Bryan Roberts said. “It is a fitting tribute to a young man who devoted his life to public service. I invite the public to come to City Hall and view the tree and reflect on all the law enforcement officers across the country who protect our communities.”

The tree can be viewed by the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Draper City Hall, which is located at 1020 East Pioneer Road.
