Crews respond to fire at Ogden church

OGDEN, Utah – Fire crews responded to a fire at a Catholic church in Ogden Wednesday.

Eric Bauman, Ogden Fire Department deputy chief, confirmed to FOX 13 News there was a fire at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, which is located at 514 24th St. in Ogden.

No injuries were reported.

Bauman said flames were initially visible, but crews on scene said as of about 4:40 p.m. that nothing is visible beyond smoke. As of about 5 p.m. the fire was out and the church was being ventilated.

Officials said the fire began after a boiler caught fire, and crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly. Damages were estimated at about $10,000, and the damages were contained to the boiler unit.
