Man killed after car hits telephone pole

SYRACUSE, Utah – A man was killed in a vehicle accident Saturday afternoon in Syracuse after he swerved into oncoming traffic, moved back into his lane, over-corrected and hit a telephone pole.

According to a press release from the Syracuse Police Department, the accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Taylor Johnston, 20, from Syracuse was driving a Dodge Neon westbound near 1700 South and 3400 West when he attempted to pass another vehicle, swerved back into the lane, overcorrected and hit a telephone pole. Johnston was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident and no other injuries reported.

Utah Highway Patrol officials were called in to assist the investigation. Speed and weather are possible factors in the crash, according to the release.
