PROVO -- Representatives of Dr. Martin MacNeill say they will likely appeal the guilty verdict of murder.
MacNeill was found guilty of first-degree murder early Saturday morning after he was accused of drugging his wife Michele, luring her to the bathtub and drowning her.
“I’m certain there will be an appeal,” said MacNeill’s defense attorney Randy Spencer. “In cases like this, it’s generally not prudent to have the same attorney that did the trial do the appeal. I don’t anticipate I will be the one that does the appeal.”
Appeals are natural in most homicide cases that go to a jury trial, said Chad Grunander, Deputy Utah County Attorney.
Fox 13 News spoke with Michele’s family who had a chance to meet with the jury. Their interviews will be released during Live at Five.
