OGDEN, Utah -- Weber State University students may have been surprised to see hundreds of people running through campus Friday night in nothing but their underwear.

The Nearly Naked Mile is an annual event hosted by the school, and the charity run had an entrance fee of two cans of food.

Brady Harris, vice president of the Weber State University Student Association, said all of the clothes shed at the starting line are donated to those in need.

"So the whole tag line of this thing is, 'Run your clothes off in the cold to keep others warm' and so every year we've kind of varied the shelters," Harris said. "This year we're just going all over the Ogden area and saying, 'here's some clothes,' keep everybody warm."

The run began in the center of campus and ended at the student center, where a dance was held and refreshments were served. Event organizers said around 300 people participated and nearly 1,000 cans of food were donated.
