SALT LAKE CITY —  A man who was arrested earlier this year after allegedly making terroristic threats regarding the Salt Lake City Marathon pleaded guilty Friday.

George Zinn was arrested after he allegedly sent an email to marathon officials, in which he asked that he be allowed to help place bombs at the finish line of the race.

Zinn pleaded guilty to a class A misdemeanor terrorism charge, and sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 3, 2014 at 8:30 a.m.

Detectives said it wasn’t clear if Zinn was making a joke or a serious threat.
