MADISON, Wisc. — BYU’s fast-paced offense was not enough to keep Wisconsin off balance Saturday, and the Cougars lost 27-17 to the No. 24 Badgers.

Wisconsin all-star linebacker Chris Borland was a force on defense, bringing the Badgers 13 tackles and two sacks, but Kyle Van Noy wasn’t too far behind. Van Noy brought the Cougars eight tackles and an interception.

Wisconsin running back James White ran for two touchdowns and caught a pass for another TD. White has scored five touchdowns in the last two games.

BYU sophomore quarterback Taysom Hill threw two touchdown passes to Cody Hoffman, but Hill’s running was held to a minimum by Wisconsin pressure.

Hill was 19 of 41, and he threw for 207 yards. He only ran 53 yards on 17 carries and was picked off once.

The Cougar’s offense usually averages 32 points and 511 yards in total offense, but the Badgers held them back to just 370 yards. Hoffman finished with seven receptions for 113 yards.

The Cougars head back to Provo to take on the Idaho State Bengals next Saturday.
