SALT LAKE CITY — Utah came close to upsetting No. 22 Arizona State in Rice Eccles Stadium, but they couldn’t hold on to their lead in the 4th quarter and fell 20-19 to the Sun Devils.

The Sun Devils’ All-American defensive tackle Will Sutton caught the game clinching inception at the line of scrimmage with one minute left in the game.

Utah’s defense kept Arizona State back for three quarters, but the Sun Devils’ defense fought back in the fourth – holding the Utes to only 17 yards and one first down.

Sun Devil quarterback Taylor Kelley ran for a touchdown and threw another in the fourth quarter, bringing the Sun Devils back on top for the last-minute win.

Kelly finished 19-31 passing for 144 yards and was assisted by Marion Grice, who rushed 20 times for 136 yards. Grice made a 38-yard run to set up Kelly’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Richard Smith with 2:37 left in the fourth—bringing the score to its final resting place.

Ute quarterback Travis Wilson is just 18-44 with six interceptions in the last three games, proving his injured hand to be more of a problem than expected.

This is Arizona State’s 10th straight win against Utah.

The Utes head on the road next week to take on the No. 3 Oregon Ducks.
