OGDEN, Utah – A group of bikers with Christmas on their minds roared through Ogden in order to gather donations for children in need Sunday.

Members of the Weber County chapter of American Bikers Aiming Toward Education collected toys, food and clothing to donate to the Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership.

Gary Cruea is the president of the Weber County chapter of ABATE Utah, and he said this was their opportunity to help.

“We were looking for some way to give back to the community, and this was the best way we could come up with for the needy children who need coats, hats, gloves for wintertime," he said.

Road Captain Eric Stine, ABATE Utah, said the event is fun for the bikers and beneficial for the kids.

“It's good for us because it gets us all together,” he said. “It's great for the kids because they get something they might not of otherwise gotten for Christmas. This is my sixteenth year doing the toy run, and I look forward to it every year, as most of these people do.”

The organization has been doing the charity ride for the past 25 years. The group will also host a sub for Santa during the holiday season.
