SUGAR HOUSE, Utah -- The Sugar House streetcar, now known as the S-Line, is now up and running for tests.

Two test trains are currently running to get drivers and operators trained, check safety and to get pedestrians and residents better acquainted with what to expect.

The S-Line goes from 2100 South and 300 West up to about 1100 East in Sugar House.

There are some challenges officials are trying to address. There are five crossings that are just stop signs, with no crossing arms or flashing lights and bells installed. Officials said as long as drivers come to a complete stop, the trains are going slow enough that there shouldn't be any accidents.

The new streetcar line will have seven stops along the two-mile route which will offer service every 20 minutes.

Lines are expected to open up to the public on Dec. 8.
