Kane County deputy accidentally shot during routine test

KANAB — A Kane County Sheriff’s deputy was shot in his legs during routine qualification shooting test Monday, officials said.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy was hit in the lower portion of both his legs. He was flown to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George for treatment and has since been released.

Officials said the deputy injured has worked on the sheriff’s office for seven to eight years. The sheriff’s office has not released how the accident happened.

The incident is currently under investigation.
