SALT LAKE CITY – A New law could put furloughed military employees back to work next week; Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said nearly all of the 350,000 civilian workers furloughed will be recalled in the coming days.

It isn’t clear what impact that will have on employees furloughed from Hill Air Force Base, where about 2,600 employees were sent home last Monday.

Local Union Leader Monte Lewis, president of Local 1592 The American Federation of Government Employees, said they expect to begin getting reactivation calls Sunday night, and a paycheck as soon as Friday.

Utah resident Jan Brangle said she hopes those furloughed are able to return to work.

“They might as well be in there working,” Brangle said. “I mean, I have a lot of friends who are furloughed, and it's tough. It's really tough.”
