SALT LAKE CITY -- Chief Chris Burbank of the Salt Lake City Police Department came to the FOX 13 News studio Thursday to discuss the ongoing immigration debate.

Burbank is speaking out against an immigration bill recently proposed by U.S. House Republicans in Congress. Burbank said the Strengthen And Fortify Enforcement (SAFE) Act puts local law enforcement in the position of acting as immigration enforcement.

Burbank said immigration enforcement should be preformed by federal agencies, rather than local police. Burbank also said the law would alienate large portions of society, which he said makes police work more difficult. Check out the video above for his full interview.
