OGDEN, Utah – The debate over the government shutdown continues in Washington, and Uthans affected by it were speaking out Thursday.

Workers from Hill Air Force Base and other federal employees who have been furloughed, as well as others upset about the shutdown, protested outside of Utah Congressman Rob Bishop’s office in Ogden.

Protesters, like Jenny Brown, said they want Congress to come to an agreement so they can get back to work.

“We want to tell him and everyone else that we want to work,” Brown said. “There's work to be done. The government has important work that needs to be done, and we're out here wanting to get in and do it."

Bishop and other state lawmakers sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel’s office, in which they asked him to put civilian Department of Defense employees back to work.
