COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah – A man is behind bars after police found marijuana and several guns, including assault rifles, in the man’s home.

A neighbor called to report the smell of burning marijuana in Cottonwood Heights, and when police responded they said Fred Mismash answered the door with a small handgun.

Police eventually searched the residence, where they also found an AR-15, an AK-47, several shotguns and a marijuana plant.

Sgt. Gary Young of the Cottonwood Heights Police Department said it wasn’t clear why the man had so many weapons.

“I’m not sure the origin of the guns, or why he had so many, or why he’s choosing to mix guns and drugs—that’s for another day,” he said. “But we’re glad to get a couple more guns off the street.”

Mismash faces several charges, including drug charges and possession of weapons by a restricted person.
