SALT LAKE CITY – It’s an event billed as a fun family weekend where mom, dad and even the kids pack pistols.

A firearm company, Glock, hosted a shooting competition Saturday and Sunday called the Wasatch Ballistical Challenge XI, and it’s the 37th stop on a 46-stop national tour.

Each entrant must be using a Glock pistol, but that’s basically the only requirement for participation.

Range Master Cindy Noyes, Glock Sports Shooting Foundation, said the event is open to children as well as adults.

“It’s a fun, family oriented shooting match,” she said. “We don’t really have an age limit for the youngsters—they have to be able to operate a gun safely by themselves.”

The biggest Glock shooting competition in the country took place last weekend in Georgia as more than 1,000 people entered. Salt Lake City’s event didn’t have that many, but event organizers said it went well and they plan to be back.
