DRAPER — A varsity football quarterback with Timpanogos High School was flown to an area hospital after being knocked unconscious during the last few minutes of a game Friday night, officials said.

Timpanogos was playing Corner Canyon High School in Draper. The quarterback lost consciousness after a tackle, said Jeff Haney, Canyon School District spokesman.

“He regained consciousness and was able to get off the field,” Haney said.

As a precautionary measure an airmed helicopter was called to fly the student to a hospital for further treatment.

The game ended seven minutes before game time with Corner Canyon the victors, 35-7.

The student is home and doing fine, said John Patten, spokesman for Alpine School District. He suffered a severe concussion but the Patten said school officials hope he will return to school Monday or Tuesday.
