TOOELE COUNTY, Utah -- This year marks the 100th anniversary of scouting in Utah, and to celebrate the milestone 10,000 scouts gathered at the Boy Scout Jamboral in Tooele Saturday.

The event brought together scout troops from across the state to take part in team building exercises and learn the history of scouting.

“It’s where all these scouts in the state come together in one huge group,” Boy Scout Ben Bolduc explained. “We just hang out, play and do activities all day long.”

For many boys at the event, scouting is a family legacy dating back generations. It’s a long tradition, they say, that will last another century and beyond.

“Scouting is such a great program for young men to build character, and to celebrate 100 years of scouting with this big event is a lot of fun,” said Ron Feulner, who is a Venturing leader.
