CENTERVILLE, Utah – The city of Centerville held a disaster drill Saturday to prepare for the possibility of a large earthquake.

The scenario for the drill was a 6.5 magnitude earthquake, and emergency officials said such an earthquake is likely in the future given that Utah is a seismically active region.

Cory Snyder is an information officer for Centerville City, and he said the drill helps them prepare for the worst.

“What’s fascinating about conducting one is once we get here, even though we’ve been kind of prepped in a tabletop exercise, it does teach us how chaotic things can be,” he said.
