ARCHES NATIONAL PARK, Utah  – A man is in serious condition after he fell an estimated 80 feet from a trail near Utah’s Delicate Arch.

Arches National Park officials said the 27-year-old man, who is visiting from Beijing, fell  around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The man was found unconscious and bleeding from his head below the arch. When the man regained consciousness, he told paramedics he could not feel his legs.

Park officials said the rock formation the victim had been standing on is a popular site for photographers taking evening shots of the arch. The man apparently lost his footing and slipped over the edge, officials said.

The man was flown to a hospital in Grand Junction, where he is being treated for serious trauma injuries.
