Employers are already getting a head start on the holiday shopping season by hiring thousands of new seasonal employees.

Walmart, Target, Kohl's and Toys "R" Us are just some of the retailers hiring now.

Economists said holiday hiring could be relatively flat this year due to uncertainty about the economy.

Target officials said they will be hiring 20 percent fewer seasonal employees than they did a year ago.

Walmart is looking to fill 55,000 seasonal jobs across the country this holiday season. Kohl's is looking to fill 50,000 jobs and Toys "R" Us is looking to fill 45,000.
